Red Shoreline, Hutt Lagoon
Red Shoreline, Hutt Lagoon
This aerial photograph was taken from a fixed wing plane over Western Australia.
Hutt Lagoon is a salt lake in mid-north WA. The lagoon contains the world's largest microalgae production plant, a 250-hectare (620-acre) series of artificial ponds used to farm Dunaliella salina which creates the pink and red hue in the lakes.
Bright, saturated ponds light up under the daytime sun while the shorelines create stunning abstract formations leading from the land into the lake.
